Something really pissed me off this weekend during Mr. Wisconsin Leather event. The weekend itself was FANTASTIC. I had a great time, learned a lot about myself, and made some awesome friends. I’ll get into more about that in another post.
During the weekend, there was a Puppy Pound event at the local dog spa. This was a great way for members of the Puppy community to get together, mingle, explore, and enjoy each other. This isn’t really seen too much in the Leather/kink community and I was very happy to see it. Sadly, I could not go due to the fact that food was more important at the time (after a day of workshops and getting up early with no breakfast, I needed it).
I hung out at the host bar after lunch, killing some time as the pup folk began returning. Many began to, including the bartenders and staff of the host bar who was assisting. That’s when it happened. One of the bar staff started talking about the event, calling it “weird”, “stupid”, and at one point even saying it was “not even kink”.
Look, I get it. You may not “get” every kink. It may not be your “thing”. That’s fine. I respect that. However, do NOT talk negatively about a BIG part of the community in front of attendees of the event, especially while representing the host bar for the weekend.
